Bildkontakte is an online dating service enabling singles to find other singles 24/7, in the most convenient way. No matter if you're looking for a lasting relationship, a casual flirt or just want to get in touch with new people: All of the important features are available for free and making contact is super easy.
Yes, registration and the basic membership, which includes all of the important features (e.g. view user profiles, send messages to other users), are completely free. There is, however, an option to unlock additional features with Coins or get them all at once by purchasing a full-fledged Premium membership (both are available as in-app purchases).
Of course. For example, every profile needs to have a proper picture in order to get approved. For the pictures themselves, you can find some tips in our Picture guidelines. Our basic rules are as follows:

- Respect your fellow users.
- If you have any questions, contact our Support or our TEAM members.
- Don't harass other users and don't annoy them (e.g. by instantly asking for their phone number or giving yours to them).
- Insults and slurs of any kind are off-limits. Remember that you are never completely anonymous on the internet.
- Troublemakers should either be ignored or reported to our support via our messaging system.
- Personal data (e.g. phone numbers or bank account data) doesn't belong in a profile and may not be sent in the first few messages you exchange with another user.
- Without their explicit permission, it is forbidden to give other user's data to third parties.
- Please respect other people's copyrighted material and their personal rights, e.g. when using a profile picture on which people other than you can be seen.
- This online dating service should be used to find a partner. Commercial use is not allowed, this includes mass mailings and any other form of advertising.
- As we said, you are not anonymous on the internet. Should it be of legal relevance, we (as well as your internet provider) are obliged to give your data (e.g. IP address) to the police. So please be reasonable and make use of common sense.

- Registration and login
If you aren't a Bildkontakte member yet, you can register directly in the app. Touch "Join for free" and then choose your desired username, a password and a valid email address. You will be forwarded to the next page where you have to fill in additional details about yourself (e.g. where you live and how old you are). Fill in everything and continue. Afterwards, choose "Create profile" to confirm your registration. Now you have the opportunity to take a picture of yourself or choose one from your album. You can edit the picture if you want since it's important that you are clearly visible. After uploading the picture, you will receive a confirmation email. Tap the link in that email to conclude your registration.
First and foremost, be sure to check your Spam folder. Sometimes our emails end up there. If you cannot find the email there, open the app. On the start page, you should see a message which prompts you to confirm your email. Tap on that message to find a button that allows you to send the confirmation email one more time.
To log in using Facebook Connect, touch the button "Login with Facebook". After a short authentification process you will be forwarded to the Facebook login. After typing in your email address and password, the only thing left to do is to give our app permission to access some of your Facebook data. Afterwards, you can either confirm or further edit the profile we created with your Facebook data. Please note: Bildkontakte will never send you messages on Facebook or post anything using your name. The login via Facebook is just a way of making the login process as simple and convenient as possible. Please refer to our Terms of Service for additional information about this feature.
On the login page, tap "Forgot your password?" at the bottom. On the next page, enter your email address and tap "Send". You will then receive an email from us which allows you to change your password.
You can change your password in your Settings. Switch the Settings tab from "Notifications" to "My account" to find the "Change password" option.
Access your profile through the navigation bar. In your profile overview, choose "Edit profile" and scroll down a bit, then tap "Edit main information" to change your email address. After doing so, we will send you a confirmation email with a link. Tap on that link to confirm the change. Alternatively, you can find a shortcut to the "Edit profile" page right here.

You can find the General Settings by choosing "Settings" in the navigation bar. Here, you can manage your Notifications, your ignored users, the visibility of your online status and other things.
Choose "Settings" in the navigation bar. Here you can set which and how many push notifications you want to receive (or turn them off altogether).

- Profile
Open the navigation bar and tap on your profile picture. This will take you to the profile overview, where you can edit information about you (e.g. contact wish, hobbies, preferences). This is also the place to manage your pictures, authenticity checks and the status of your membership. Tap here to go directly to your profile overview.
Your place of residence, which is visible for other users, can be changed in your profile overview. Tap "Edit profile" and search for "Country", "Town" and "ZIP Code/postal code" to make the necessary changes. If you only want to change your current location for a short period of time (e.g. if you are on vacation in another town), tap "Track location" in the Search options. However, doing so will not change the place of residence in your profile information (which has to be edited manually).
Open the navigation bar and choose "Profile visitors". Please note that, with a basic membership, you can unlock profile visitors with Coins. You can check your current Coins balance here. Premium users can always see all of their profile visitors.
We offer the opportunity to perform optional authenticity checks so you can show other users that you definitely are a real person. We offer three ways to prove your authenticity: calling us, uploading an official docoument (e.g. your ID card) or taking a photo with your username and today's date on a piece of paper. After a successful authentification process, you'll receive a blue checkmark on your profile. You can perform authenticity checks here.
Yes, but only as a Premium user. Go to "Settings" in the navigation bar and choose "My account". There you can find the option "Hide as profile visitor". Just slide the corresponding button to ON and you will be invisible for your current session.
Changing your profile picture is only possible if you already have uploaded multiple pictures. Access your profile overview through the navigation bar and choose "My pictures", then tap "Change profile picture" to choose one of the displayed pictures. You can also tap on any picture to view it at full size and set it as your profile picture, provided it already has been approved.
You can delete your profile by accessing the Settings through the navigation bar. Choose "My account" and scroll down a bit to find the "Delete account" option. Tap it and follow the instructions to successfully delete your Bildkontakte account.

- Pictures
They serve as an orientation point, e.g. to show which ones still await approval or are only permitted as additional pictures. You can find more information on this topic in our picture hints.
At Bildkontakte, everyone shows their true face. To be able to get to know each other on equal terms, having a proper profile picture is a must.
To add a new picture, first open the navigation bar, then go to your profile overview and choose "My pictures". Tap "Add new picture", then choose an appropriate existing picture from your album or take a new one with your camera. You may also choose to upload a picture from your Facebook profile. Please note: You can upload a maximum of eight pictures.
Every profile requires one approved profile picture at any given time. If you want to change your profile picture, you must first upload another one. After it has been approved, you can set it as your new profile picture.
The are various reasons for rejecting a picture. For example, pictures with sexual, violent or racist content will not be approved. You can find additional details here. We recommend that you delete rejected pictures. Other users cannot see them and they just take up space (you can upload up to eight pictures).
Open the navigation bar, go to your profile overview and choose "My pictures" Tap on the picture you want to delete and confirm your decision with "Delete". Please note: If you only have one picture, you first need to upload another one in order to delete the current one.
To do this, you can set another picture as your default profile picture. Of course, this will only work if you have already uploaded several different pictures. Open the navigation bar, go to your profile overview and choose "My pictures". Tap "Change profile picture" and choose the picture you want to use as your new profile picture. Confirm your choice with "Use this as my profile picture". Alternatively, you can just tap on the desired picture and set it as your profile picture (provided we have approved it as a profile picture).
Yes. Open the navigation bar, go to your profile overview and choose "My pictures". Tap on the picture and set the "Hide picture" slider from OFF to ON. Please note: In order to hide your current profile picture, you first need to choose another one.

- Search
Open the search bar (accessible on the app's front page or through the navigation bar). You'll be taken to a list of search results which match the preferences you've set when you created your profile. This list already includes some of the singles in your area. To further fine-tune your search, tap the search filter icon in the upper right of the screen. Here you can limit the age range and the region in which you want to search. To search effectively, you can either confirm your location with the "Track location" button or enter your ZIP code or town. On top of this, the "Radius" feature allows you to broaden or narrow your search.

- Favorites
If there is a user you like, know well or want to remember, you can set them as a Favorite. This makes them appear in your Favorite list and you will receive notifications if they change something about their profile. With a Premium membership, you can also opt to receive a notification whenever a Favorite logs in.
Just hit the Favorite button (the star-shaped icon) when visiting a profile to add that user to your Favorite list. You can also attach a note to your Favorite if there's something you want to remember about a particular user.
No. Everything about your Favorites is only visible to you.
To delete a Favorite, tap "Favorites" in the navigation bar to access your Favorites overview and tap the "Delete" icon. This also removes any notes attached to that particular Favorite.

- Coins
Coins are a convenient virtual currency you can use inside the app to unlock certain features (e.g. showing a profile visitor). Premium users only need Coins to get into the First Row, everything else is already included in their membership.
You can earn Coins in the app by completing certain tasks (e.g. filling in your profile, uploading a profile picture, performing an authenticity check), as a daily login bonus or for free through our partner program (more information here). You can also buy various sizes of Coin packs for a low price.
Open the navigation bar and choose "Coins". This will take you to the Coins overview page. At the bottom, you will find the "Recharge Coins" button. This takes you to a new page where you can recharge your Coins. Just tap the desired Coin pack to be forwarded to the payment process.

- Premium membership
As a Premium user, you have access to a variety of exclusive additional features: For example, you can see all of your profile visitors and successful Matches (find a full list of Premium features here). It does not matter whether you purchase your Premium membership through the website or the app: both services will be available to you with all of their features unlocked.
Open the navigation bar and tap "Premium". There you'll find more information about Premium features as well as our various Premium offers. Alternatively, just follow this link.
The payment process is handled via iTunes. After choosing your desired Premium subscription period, you'll be forwarded in order to confirm your purchase. After doing so, your iTunes account will be debited with the respective amount. Any free trial periods automatically expire if you decide to purchase a Premium membership.
In order for you to be able to use your Premium features without any interruption, most Premium memberships are automatically renewed. If the membership is renewed, the amount due will be debited within 24 hours before the current subscription period ends. If you bought a one-week subscription, your membership will also be renewed for one week. If you bought any other subscription, it will be renewed for one month. If you want another renewal period than the one you currently have, you can adjust this at any point in your iTunes account settings. Please note: If you cancel your subscription and buy another one at a later point, the price might not be the same anymore. If you keep your subscription, however, the price always remains the same.
The automatic renewal of your Premium membership can be cancelled up until 24 hours before the end of the current period through your iTunes settings. Upon doing so, it will expire after the respective duration. Tap here to learn more about cancelling iTunes subscriptions.

- First Row
The First Row is a prominent position displayed on top of most lists (e.g. search results and profile visitors). You can invest Coins to put yourself in the First Row for a limited amount of time. Your picture will then be visible for members whose search criteria you match. Please note: Your picture will most likely not be displayed in your own First Row. Use this feature to get the attention of other members more easily and increase your success rate. You can check your First Row status through your profile picture in the navigation bar (if it has an orange border, you are currently in the First Row). You can also check your First Row success rate in your Coins history (displays how many users saw your First Row picture and how many of those users visited your profile based on that).
Open the search function via the navigation bar. On the upper left, you will see "Your picture here". If you tap on that, a new window opens in which you have to confirm your decision and be displayed in the First Row for the cost of a few Coins. Alternatively, you can get there directly by tapping here.

- Matching
Matching preferably displays users who match your search criteria und profile information. For each user, you can answer the question "Do you want to get to know him/her?" with "Yes", "Maybe" or "No". If your choose "No", nothing happens and the next user will be displayed. If you choose "Yes" or "Maybe" and the other person has already done the same, you will have a successful Match and will therefore be able to get in touch with them immediately. Please note: as a free user, you cannot retroactively access your Match partners which means that if the other user has not made their choice yet, nothing will happen. In this case, you will have to wait. If you choose "Yes" or "Maybe" after the other user has already chosen "No", nothing happens.
Access "Matching" through the navigation bar and tap on "Match partners". Please note that this is only possible as a Premium user. However, if you are a free user, you can still unlock pictures of your Match partners by using Coins.

- Inbox
Open a conversation and choose the "Edit" option in the upper right, then put a check mark on the messages you want to delete (using the boxes on the left). Afterwards, you can choose the "Delete" icon on the lower left to remove the message from your inbox. You can also delete messages via longpress. Tap on the message you want to delete and keep your finger on the screen for about a second, then select the waste bin icon in the upper right. These messages will not be displayed in the app anymore. However, you can still retrieve them by visiting the website and restore them from the waste bin in your inbox. It is also possible to delete whole conversations: choose "Edit" to bring up the "Delete" symbol for each message. After deleting, choose "Done" in the upper right to conclude your actions and return to the regular inbox overview. You can also choose "Done" if you just want to exit the Edit menu without actually doing anything.

- Privacy
To ensure the best possible data and privacy protection, registering is only possible with a nickname instead of your full name. All of your data is only visible to the community, sensible data will always be transferred with encryption. However, you can also protect yourself by using common sense. Do not give out personal data too early and be suspicious if another user asks you to give them your bank data or transfer money. While we have certain security mechanisms in place and check each profile by hand in order to prevent scam and/or fraud, we cannot completely prevent these things from happening. In such a case, we need your support: report users whose messages include ads, threats, slurs, weird requests or other prohibited content. Everyone has their own idea of the right time to change from chatting online to a real life date. If you do not want to take that step yet, be open about this in your communication. Someone who is truly interesed in getting in touch with you will respect your decision.
If another user harasses or threatens you, it is possible to report the message or put that user on your Ignore list. If you ignore another user, they cannot visit your profile or send you messages anymore. You can revert this decision at any point by going to "Settings", "My account" and tap "Show ignored users". If you report a message, you have to choose one of the reasons provided or write your own. Our Support team will then receive your message and investigate the matter.
